About the school
School of Law (hereafter “the School”) is one of the academic units organized under the newly established Arsi University with the objective of producing and supplying qualified professionals in the field of law, who will be the future judges, public prosecutors, legal advisors and lawyers of the country.
Before its incorporation in the newly established Arsi University, the School has been offering academic services as one of the departments of the then Adama University under the School of Social Sciences & Humanities which later on become the School of Humanities & Law.
Currently, the School is providing academic services in both undergraduate and Post-graduate programs where both programs have Regular and CDE modalities. The school now has 124 (one hundred twenty four) Regular and 87 (eighty seven) CDE students registered in its undergraduate program, while 6 (six) Regular and 49 (forty nine) CDE students are enrolled in its post-graduate program. There are 25 (twenty five) academic staff members in total, 16 (sixteen) of them are on duty and 9 (nine) are on study leave. Our academic team is made up of 3 (three) assistant professors, 18 (eighteen) lecturers, and 4 (four) assistant lecturers, according to its profile.
In addition to the teaching and learning activity, the school is providing, legal services to women, children, and people with disabilities and generally to the poor category of the society through its free legal service Centers. Thus, the School is effectively providing free legal services through its 9 (Nine) centers established in Arsi, West Arsi and Eastern Shewa zones
