The Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer oversees the following units:

  1. Research, Publication, and Ethics Directorate: Promotes high-quality research, scholarly publications, and adherence to research ethics and integrity.
  2. Community Engagement Directorate: Coordinates community service and outreach programs that address societal challenges and improve livelihoods.
  3. University–Industry Linkage and Technology Transfer Directorate: Facilitates partnerships between academia and industry, promotes innovation, and supports technology transfer initiatives.
  4. Institute of Oromo Studies: Conducts research and promotes the language, culture, history, and development of the Oromo people.

Core Responsibilities of the VPRTT Office

  • Provide strategic leadership in research, innovation, and technology transfer.
  • Align the University’s research agenda with institutional priorities and national development goals.
  • Promote multidisciplinary and problem-solving research.
  • Foster partnerships with industries, development organizations, research institutions, and funding agencies.
  • Facilitate consultancy services and knowledge exchange.
  • Develop policies and guidelines that enhance research quality, innovation, and community engagement.
  • Support university-industry collaboration through internships, externships, and joint research initiatives.
  • Promote ethical standards in research, community engagement, consultancy services, and technology transfer.
  • Enhance research dissemination through conferences, publications, and scholarly communication platforms.

Publication and Knowledge Dissemination

The VPRTT Office is committed to improving the quality, visibility, and international recognition of the Arsi Journal of Science and Innovation. Efforts are underway to strengthen publication standards and achieve indexing in internationally recognized databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, and other major scholarly indexing platforms.
