Successful Eye Cataract Removal Campaign in Asella Teaching and Referral Hospital
From November 19 to 24, 2024, Arsi University College of Health Science, in collaboration with the Fred Hollows Foundation and the Arsi Zone Health Office, successfully conducted an eye cataract removal campaign at Asella teaching and referral Hospital. This initiative aimed to provide essential eye care services to the community, benefiting numerous individuals in and around Asella town.
During the campaign, a dozen beneficiaries received cataract surgeries at no cost, significantly improving their quality of life. Officials from both Asella teaching and referral Hospital and the Arsi Zone Health Office emphasized that this campaign is part of their ongoing commitment to community service. They expressed their dedication to continuing such initiatives in the future, ensuring that more individuals have access to vital health services.
The beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the organizing bodies for facilitating this essential service free of charge. Many shared stories of how their vision had been impaired for years, and the successful surgeries have rekindled their hopes for a brighter future.
