Arsi University’s College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, in collaboration with the Academic Affairs Office, hosted a significant research finding symposium on the theme: “Enhancing Quality Education; Linking Pedagogy to Students’ Achievement.” This event took place at the University’s main campus meeting hall and was designed specifically for special capacity building trainees (teachers and school leaders) and Arsi University community.
The symposium commenced with an introduction by Dr. Dejene Deme, Dean of the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences. He emphasized the pivotal role of teachers in national development across various sectors.
Dr. Mustefa Bati, Academic Vice President of Arsi University, delivered a warm welcome, highlighting the critical nature of quality education and the collective efforts required for its enhancement. He commended both the College of Behavioral Sciences and the Academic Affairs Office for their initiative in organizing such an important workshop.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Fikadu Mitiku, President of Arsi University, shared notable achievements of the University over the past decade in teaching, research, and community service. He pointed out that quality education is essential for fostering creative, innovative, and inquisitive generations, placing the responsibility on teachers to drive these outcomes.
The symposium featured two presentations focused on improving education quality through effective pedagogy, delivered by Dr. Endalew Fufa and Dr. Robsen Mergo, both from the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences. The presenters addressed critical issues that need resolution to enhance educational quality and boost student achievement.
Participants expressed their appreciation for the scholars’ efforts and encouraged them to broaden the scope of their research to encompass the 28 woredas of Arsi Zone. The event concluded with reflections from the presenters, fostering a collaborative atmosphere for future initiatives.
