Arsi University, College of Social Sciences and Humanities held Curriculum Review Workshop on the 20th , May 2021.

 Participants of the workshop were invited guests from different federal government offices, regional bureaus, stakeholders, and the university’s and college’s staff.Dr. Wako Geda, Dean for College of Social Sciences and Humanities, made an opening speech. In the opening speech, he extended gratitude to the whole participants. He also briefed the objectives of the curriculum review workshop. Dr Wako also explained significances of MA programs in Gender and Community Development and History and Heritage Management as well as a BA program in Anthropology, in light of the socio-economic and political aspects to the society. Furthermore, Dr. Wako discussed the achievements recorded by the college of social sciences and humanities to date.

Following the opening speech, three papers, which discussed about the need assessment and overview of the curriculum, were presented by respective departments; i.e., departments of Sociology and Social Work and History and Heritage Management.   Next, external reviewers, from Addis Ababa and Wollo universities, presented comments on the new designed curriculums. Participant from  Chadet (an NGO)  who appreciates the efforts of the curriculum development committee also added some points to be incorporated into the programs.  Finally the participants of the workshop promised to contribute to the new curriculum on their parts to put it to practice.
