League of African Development Students Delegates Visits Arsi University

Delegates from League of African Development Students (known as LEADS Africa) visited Arsi University on 30th, March 2021. The aim of the visit was to establish co-operation between LEADS Africa and Arsi University. The visiting was begun with Cultural Blessings given by Abba Gadas (Gada Leaders), Religious Leaders, and Community Elders.

Dr. Duguma Adugna, Arsi University President and Winner of “LEADS Africa's PATRIOTIC ACADEMIC Award“ of the year 2021, thanked the Delegates for coming and visiting Arsi University. He briefed the delegates about Arsi University and major achievements of the University, since its establishment 2014. He also briefed facts that have provided supportive and enabling environments to Arsi University; such as establishment of Chilalo Agricultural Unit (CADU, and ARDU (Arsi Rural Development Unit) in 1960’S and 1970’S respectively. Furthermore, Dr. Duguma stated that Arsi zone is a potential area to athletics and has been providing athletes to National team the country.

 Delegates from LEADS Africa Mr. Osissiogu Osikenyi, Mr. Ukpong Akwao, Miss Blessing Ugbem, and Mr. Olawale Kadri; visited College of Agriculture and Environmental Science, ICT Centre, University’s Main campus, Asella Referral and Teaching Hospital, and the Greenery areas.

Representing the delegates, Mr. Olawale Kadri, expressed his pleasure and thanked management of Arsi University, and the community as a whole. He also appreciated their coming and visiting Arsi University. Furthermore, Mr. Olawale Kadri stated that the delegates were surprised by what they have visited; and underlined to maintain the established relationship between LEADS Africa and Arsi University.

Arsi University presented a gift of cultural clothes to the LEADS Africa delegates, including those who remain in Addis Ababa.
