Arsi University marked a vibrant and impactful celebration of International Women’s Day. The event brought together federal and regional higher officials, women intellectuals, and various stakeholders to honor the achievements and contributions of women in society.



In his welcoming remarks, Dr. Fikadu Mitiku, President of Arsi University, highlighted the challenges women have faced to attain success in political, social, and economic spheres. He emphasized the importance of recognizing and supporting women’s roles in these areas.
The session was officially opened by Dr. Sofia Kassa, State Minister at the Ministry of Agriculture and Chairperson of the University Managing Board. She encouraged women to strive for equality and called for a peaceful struggle to enhance their involvement in leadership roles.
Two significant documents were presented for discussion: “The Role of Ethiopian Women Intellectuals” and “50 Years of Reform Process and March 8.” These presentations were made by Dr. Meron Regu, Vice President for Administrative Development and Students’ Affairs, and Mrs. Tsige Haile, Director of the Gender Directorate.
The discussions fostered a constructive dialogue on women’s equality and empowerment.
Participants expressed their appreciation to the organizing committee for facilitating this event and highlighted the importance of addressing women’s issues topical to the community.






The event also featured the awarding of top female scorers from each college and a showcase of various development initiatives currently underway at the university
