Arsi University Welcomes New International Students

Asi University officially welcomed its newest cohort of international students from Somaliland during a comprehensive orientation program held on November 20, 2025, at the College of Agriculture and Environmental Science. This milestone event reflects the university’s growing international presence and its commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive academic community.
Dr. Mustefa Bati, the Vice President for Academic affairs, presided over the ceremony and extended a heartfelt welcome to the students. “Welcome to Ethiopia, welcome to Asella, and welcome to Arsi University—your second home,” Dr. Mustefa expressed warmly. “We are genuinely delighted to have you here.” In his inspiring address, he encouraged the students to embrace the wide range of academic, cultural, and social opportunities available at Arsi University. He emphasized that their stay in Arsi University is not only a period of academic engagement but also a unique opportunity to broaden their perspectives, experience Ethiopian culture, and form meaningful connections.
To support a smooth transition into university life, several key administrative units delivered detailed briefings. Representatives from the Gender Directorate, Student Affairs, the College of Agriculture and Environmental Science, and the Public and External Relations Office provided essential information tailored to the needs of international students. Their presentations highlighted important aspects such as academic integrity, student rights and responsibilities, campus safety protocols, accommodation arrangements, and available welfare and support services.




Dr. Regasa Ayana, Dean of the College of Agriculture and Environmental Science, reassured the college’s full commitment to support their academic success and overall well-being. He underscored the college’s readiness to assist students in navigating academic expectations, accessing resources, and integrating into the academic environment.
The orientation program was thoughtfully designed to combine practical information with activities aimed at building a sense of community. Students had the chance to interact with staff, faculty members, and peers, laying the foundation for strong academic and social networks. This final segment allowed students to experience the warm hospitality of Arsi University.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Mustefa reaffirmed that the entire university community stands ready to support the students throughout their academic journey. He expressed confidence that, with dedication and the support of the university, the new international students will excel in their studies and become accomplished professionals contributing to their communities and beyond.
