Arsi University held a colorful projects inauguration ceremony on May 23, 2026, marking the commencement of high-level initiatives that bring together federal, regional and zonal higher officials alongside community representatives.
The event also featured the participation of university management councils Aba Gadas and Hadha Siinqees, as well as religious leaders, reflecting the strong community and institutional partnership behind the projects.
Delivering the welcoming speech, Dr. Fikadu Mitiku, President of Arsi University, acknowledged all stakeholders for their contributions to the successful completion of the inaugurated projects. He assured attendees that the university will work day and night to meet the needs of surrounding communities.

In her key remarks, H.E Professor Netsanet Workineh, Head of the Health Bureau of Oromia Regional State, said she was inspired by the projects’ standards and encouraged the university management to maintain the same pace in order to further improve the livelihood of society.

In her key remarks, H.E. Dr. Sofia Kassa, State Minister of Ministry of Agriculture and Arsi University Board Chair, highlighted that the government is taking strong strides to improve the quality of life for the citizen. She commended the efforts and committment of the former and the current university leadership and encouraged the new leadership to achieve more. She also called up on the community for a wise utlization of the facilities in the inaugurated projects and ensured the board’s continued support for the university.

H.E Dr. Mekdes Daba, Minister of the Ministry of Health and the guest of honor of the day, expressed appreciation for Arsi University’s efforts across different areas—particularly in strengthening health facilities. She further stated that her office will provide the support needed to ensure the continued success and impact of the initiatives.

Among the projects officially inaugurated were a Maternal and Children Hospital, aimed at addressing key challenges in health service delivery at hospital level, and a Food Processing Business Incubation Center, designed to support and incubate business ideas that can improve the lives of many community members.
