Arsi University held a prestigious recognition and award ceremony at the Smart Hall of its main campus, celebrating the achievements of its student sports team. The event recognized the team’s outstanding performance at the Ethiopian Public Universities Sports Festival, hosted by AASTU, where they secured an impressive total of six medals: two gold, two silver, and two bronze.
Dr. Fikadu Mitiku, the president of Arsi University, delivered the opening remarks, expressing gratitude to the team for their extraordinary commitment. He highlighted their achievement of placing 7th overall in the competition, commending the students for their sportsmanship and dedication.
Mr. Gemechu Beker, the leader of the university’s sports delegation, shared inspiring success stories and challenges encountered during the festival. He extended his thanks to the university management and the community for the substantial material and moral support received throughout their stay.
In recognition of their accomplishments, the university awarded monetary prizes and certificates to the athletes, acknowledging their individual contributions to the team’s success.
The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including Aba Gadas, Hadha Siinqees, religious leaders, university officials, and representatives from the Asella town community, all of whom joined in celebrating the students’ remarkable achievements.
