The project is part of the university’s KPIs to improve community well-being by reducing stigma and promoting access to mental health services. The training sessions takes place from April 8 to April 10, 2025, in Bekoji Town, targeting key community members including religious leaders, local influencers, healthcare providers, social support networks, and traditional healers. Project Objectives includes:

- Raise Awareness: Provide comprehensive information on common mental illnesses, their signs, and symptoms.
- Reduce Stigma: Challenge existing misconceptions and foster open dialogue surrounding mental health.
- Promote Help-Seeking Behavior: Encourage individuals to seek help and utilize available mental health resources and services.
- Engage Community Leaders: Involve local leaders to advocate for mental health awareness and support within the community.
The project offers specialized training for community leaders and healthcare workers focused on identifying and responding to mental health issues effectively. By equipping these key figures with knowledge and resources, Arsi University College of Health Science hopes to create a ripple effect that transforms the understanding of mental health in the Arsi zone.
