Arsi University College of Health Sciences in Collaboration with Hirsch Institute of Tropical Medicine Hosts Workshop on Prevention and Management of Nosocomial Infections from October 9-12/218

 

Dr. Duguma Adugna, the president of Arsi University warmly welcomes the participants of the workshop. In his welcoming speech, the president appreciates professional activity like this is very important to mobilize the community around the teaching hospital to prevent nosocomial infections. The president also reminds that everyone has to keep the environment clean to prevent nosocomial infections. Lastly, he states that working in collaboration is very important to deliver quality patient care service around hospital, and he values the involvement of foreign professionals in the workshop.

 Next, the Dean of Health Science College, Dr. Nuwama Bifa presents highlight experience regarding the teaching and referral hospital hygiene and infection prevention activities. The dean asserts that professionals have to work hard to have a healthy environment in which the compound of the teaching and referral hospital entire condition must remain healthy so as to easily prevent nosocomial infection.

In hospital area, hands of health professionals are the most frequent vehicles of nosocomial infections, so standardized and monitoring hygiene must be practiced. Following Dr. Nuwama’s presentation, a number of participants raised discourse like argument concerning what is presented in theory, and what is realized on the ground? The presenter on the other hand admits there is gap in prevention area because of water shortage and some facilities problem, but the college will work hard to seal the existing gap.

As Mr. Tafese Beyene explains, the objective of this workshop is to create exposure for experience sharing and competence maximizing towards how to fight nosocomial infection to have a healthy atmosphere.Adding to this, he appreciates Hirsch Institute of Tropical Medicine for the provision of financial and technical support in research project and other community service activities.The institute has done great jobs in Arsi University to create a sustainable health sphere of influence in the hospital since 2013.
