Arsi University Holds the 4th University- Industry Linkage Forum on 04 May 2018

Arsi University Research and Community Service Vice- President, His Excellency Dr. Kasim Kimo warmly welcomes the participants and remarks the opening of the forum by introducing the grand theme of the 4th University- Industry Linkage Forum“ Enhancing Education Quality, Graduate Employability and Industry Productivity through University – Industry Linkage.” The vice-president also asserts that deliver ology is the means where higher education performance has to be tested; otherwise, it is only hypothetical what we all have been endeavoring under the shed of higher learning institution. Therefore, the University communities as well as the industry sector have to work towards creating inspiring and encouraging atmosphere to produce capable graduates in all aspects of social interactions. To realize this, he states four major points that are to be implemented through university- industry cooperation: 1st designing appropriate technology and help students practice 2nd let industry professionals bring into university and help students by introducing the reality of working climatic situation 3rd placing university instructors to industry in order to relate the theory to practice, and they can understand the existing needs of graduates 4th creating industry related practical exposure for students so as to realize what they have learnt in theory, and the gap they have missed relative to the working environment.

Arsi University President, His Excellency Dr. Dughuma Adugna briefs that there are several projects which are being conducted by Arsi University to facilitate the academic environment for better teaching- learning, research and community service movements. As the president emphasizes, quality is a collective effort of higher education, industry and the surrounding community for a common ground that is the entire society’s life transformation. With this understanding, all the academic, research and community service activities have to be designed to solve the existing social problems; otherwise, the desire change is not achieved. Currently, there is a stiff global competition in industry and academic sphere of influence; therefore, we need to produce competent graduates who can fit the global marketing system. The industry sector has also to focus on the quality of the finished goods so as to penetrate the global market; or else, it may be limited in the given territory which would not bring a sound transformation in the country. Finally, the president appreciates the participants of the forum for their collective inexorable effort to bring a sustainable and dynamic advancement through University- Industry Linkage.
