Arsi University Graduates its Pioneer Undergraduate Program Students

Arsi University embraces a marvelous and colorful graduation parade on 9 of July/ 2017. Higher officials, the university leaders, community representatives, country elders, the university academic and administrative community, graduate families and friends shared on the fancy of the occasion.

Speaking on the ceremony Board Chairman of Arsi University and Deputy President of Oromiya Regional State, Umer Hussen, valued the role the university is playing working with the surrounding community to solve existing public problems through research and community services. He also called up on the graduates to hand round their country and the public who gave them the opportunity from the scares resource.Mr. Umer accentuated the country that is striving to line itself among middle income economies by 2025 expects a lot from the graduates to stand by the renaissance objective with all their energies, skills and knowledge obtained during their stay in the university.

Acting President of Arsi University, His Excellency Dr. Hirpho Teno, noted that Arsi University started three years back with 10,328 students in 31 undergraduate, and 13 postgraduate programs holding high its strategic plan to be among leading universities in East Africa and be recognized among world Class University by 2033. The university graduates 1066 in bachelor and 930 in post graduate programs. Adding the university has undertaken significant activities to succeeding the vision and mission it has set. The university is in a proud stance since it has started its journey with successes standard of quality by graduating medical doctors, 90.2% of whom could pass national exit exams. By and large, 99% of its midwives and 87% of its law graduates have stood high from the outset in the national exit exams at one seat in 2016; furthermore, 100% midwives have passed the exit exam in 2017.Similar achievements are being registered in research and community engagements while contributing a great deal to the socio-economic activities of Asella Town and the surrounding.

Dr. Herpho underlined that the universities endeavor to address the public through research and community services is worth mentioning. According to the acting president, the university research and community service directorate approved 40 research proposals to undertake research in the budget year. College of Business and Economics graduates have used job fair exhibition that enable companies who are looking for workforce.

Honorable guest of the ceremony, Abadula Gemeda House of Peoples’ Representative Spokes person praised graduates and the families’ of graduates, adding up to this he noted that it is not the end of journey rather it is the beginning of graduates tough passage to achieve their desired goal and the government plan and strategy. He asserts to the university community; the Chilalao Mountain was covered with thick forest; however, it has been observed it is endangered of human activities; therefore, Arsi University shall work hard towards overwhelming the foreseeable disaster of the forest. The praiseworthy guest concluded his speech calling upon the graduates to be part of the government 2nd transformation and development and wishing them best career life.

The graduation parade has been colorful and amazing where families have been expressed their pleasure over the ceremony by screaming, shrilling and shouting happiness.
